Desperate Plea for Feedback

Mar 09, 2007 04:36

I just finished the longest work of fiction -- of anything, really -- that I've ever written. I am really proud of it, but I fear that may be delusions and not an unbiased judgment of its worth. Therefore, I am desperate for feedback. Because it is long, I do not simply want to cut and paste it here, but if you are willing to read it and to tell me ( Read more... )

I'll do it. If you send it as a Word document, I might even use the nifty comments feature. However, it might take a while...

But yes, I'd like to see it! I'll see if I can't find your email or something in your profile, since I don't really want to post the address publicly.

My email is mm511. Gmail. I assume you can figure it out from there? :-)

Also, thanks supermuch for offering. I really appreciate it. I'm trying to do something crazy, in that I actually want to start revising what I write in hopes of finding something worthy of sending out for attempted publication. With most of the stuff I've written in the past, it's like "Write it. And you're done." But... that's got to change now.

Also, do use the comments feature if you want. I love those! They're fun, and perhaps you'll be inclined to write more than you would if you were just typing out comments. But make sure that you say SOMETHING here, so you get crit credit. :-)

Send it to me.

I can't promise anything, but send it anyway. I could use some practice in critiquing. E-mail: bubliotheque@gmail.com

I'll read it if you like! I'm told I'm a decent amateur editor. You can send it to nakedblueninja@livejournal.com because that forwards to my real e-mail. It may take me upwards of a week to get it read and to get my thoughts organised on the subject.

Two brief suggestions:

1. Describe the length of your story in word count rather than the number of pages. I assume the piece contains approximately 16,000 words, a measure that may be more meaningful to many readers.

2. Post a sample, perhaps the first 2,000 words, so that prospective readers can form their own opinions over whether the work has sufficient quality and interest before committing themselves to the time-consuming task a work of this length will require. You may discover that you'll attract more conscientious participants using this method.

I agree about posting an excerpt. I would be happy to read it all if the first 1000 words seemed to offer something.

I'm up for it. Demons+weddings sound fun. You can use my livejournal address to e-mail it, the whole username@livejournal.com deal-y.

I can't promise it would be done by Monday, but chances are pretty good considering the alternative is housework... :)
