So, Doris Lessing. Another British Literature Nobel Prize winner. I've only read short stories, and she's not a writer who made a great impression on me. Though by all accounts she's concerned with promoting humanist virtues and literary experimentation and other worthwhile things, probably moreso than bookmaker Ladbrokes' choice, Philip Roth. Les Murray winning would a) be amazing and b) my prediction for something happening in the next ten years.

It would be good if Les Murray won. Sadly I think the favourites almost never win, so he's probably been jinxed by the nasty bookmakers. The perennial candidates seem to be Roth, Joyce Carol Oates, Margaret Atwood, Milan Kundera, and Syrian poet Adonis; I think Orhan Pamuk is the only one anybody predicted in recent years.
