Tabula Rasa
New Resident "Crash" Room
Two months. Two months, and Phoenix was still floating in dream world beside his dead ex-boss. It was a good thing the former attorney had long ago learned to take the weird stuff life seemed fond of chucking at him in stride, and so this mess took a little less getting used to than was probably ( Read more... )

Mia, too, had made the crash room her temporary place of residence until an alternative presented itself. She had no doubt that one would in time, and though it did occur to her that her presence might be an inconvenience to someone else in greater need than her, she was...well, 'content' wasn't quite the word for it. While being around Phoenix again was, indeed, a good thing, she felt...uncomfortable. She was beginning to realize just how much he'd changed, and it scared her. While her attitude remained the same, his did not, and it had thrown her for a loop initially, and despite any efforts on her part of trying not to let it bother her, it continued to do so ( ... )

Having heard the clatter of light footsteps in the hallway even before Mia's voice carried over from the door, he wasn't terribly surprised to find her there when he turned to glance over his shoulder.

"A beachside villa, perhaps?" Mia inquired teasingly, but the tilt of her head was, for once, not accompanied by the usual smile. There was a small, tight pause before she spoke again. "There's an empty hut. Near the smaller waterfall, close to the beach. It's not exactly a villa, but it would save you the trouble of trying to build one yourself."

(He'd probably end up nailing his own hand to his face. I'm not sure how, but this is Phoenix we're talking about...)

"I can show you, if you'd like." Mia had spent a fair amount of time wandering the island, mostly near the beach and the waterfalls...especially the waterfalls. They reminded her, in a strange way, of Kurain Village.

Phoenix stood up, pressing a hand through his tousled hair and raising an eyebrow as he turned to face her. "You know, you're probably right." He didn't sound too terribly surprised. "I don't think I could swing a hammer if my life depended on it."

He'd assumed there would be empty huts, of course, but hadn't checked into any specifics just yet. The fact Mia had one as good as picked out seemed to amuse him. "Sure. I could use the exercise, anyway. Let's go."
