My old job asked me to come back "part-time." I said yes, and I am replete with regret for this decision. Well, you know I have a bias. But I totally agree about wanting to be the one to experience all the mommy stuff myself. It goes by so fast and we won't be back this way again. Even if you have another baby at some point, there's no redos. F will be a walking, talking little boy before you know it. If it really is just small stuff like groceries and mascara standing in your way, you can learn the ways of cheapness. I got $180 worth of toiletries, diapers and groceries for $55 this week. At the risk of sounding like a Hallmark card, I think you have to follow your heart on stuff like this.
