With you on this one too. One thing I think is funny though is the idea that he can only be an artist in NY, and for J to stay in Pittsburg will be him forsaking his sparkling future for B. Why? Artists live all over the world and still pursue their art and still get famous. He can paint on the moon and still be invited to NY for an exhibition of his "moon series". His going to NY doesn't have to mean the end of B/J - because he doesn't have to live there forever to realise his dream. Bud
It's such an absurd story line that I can only believe it was constructed to get Justin out of the picture so that the end wasn't all about bj, but was about the statement C/L were trying to make.
Thank you. Yes, I agree absolutely about the painting thing. I still believe that there were multiple things going on in that last episode that had nothing to do with the five seasons of the show, and a great deal to do with the producers having
( ... )
I've told you this before and I'll tell you again: I am right with you on this positive take on B/J.
Because it makes no sense to think that after all that they've been through over the past 5 years, and especially in season 5, that after everything Brian agreed to give to Justin because he loves him.... that they'll NOT eventually end up together.
We may not see them in the last shot together but we KNOW how strong their love is and that Justin *has* to go and make a career for himself on his own. The 503 loft scene where Brian offers him the job at Kinnetik and Justin says, thanks but its time I made my own way in life.... is foreshadowing for that.
That doesn't mean that they've broken up. Only that they have to be apart for the time being to be able to get together later on. After Justin has done things on his own and succeeded (not like Rage movie which got cancelled) and after Brian's Kinnetik is even more successful and ready for expansion--that's when they will be together.
Yes ... it's an odd thing to me that anyone who really believes that they love each other, and have loved each other through everything that has happened to them, can just say "oh, woe, it's over" because Justin heads off to NY - which is a few hours' drive away.
I don't get it, not at all I don't.
But then some people simply wouldn't have been happy with anything less than the wedding.
(The idea of which, to be candid, made me slightly queasy.)
Actually, I wasn't a fan of the wedding rumors either. I love schmoop but a wedding would've been a little too OOC for Brian. And despite all of Justin's comments about wanting to be a couple in 506, I don't think he really meant it. He's just not ready for that kind of life. He's only 21.
I'd like to thank you because I always felt that the scenes we saw at the end weren't the end. I didn't have negative feelings with Brian dancing alone. I didn't think that that meant that Brian was out of character(isation). I don't tknow what I thought. I just didn't have a problem with it, not like the other fans who... yech. I felt bad that I didn't think it was wrong. Kind of like goodfic vs. badfic and who reads what, and what that means about the reader.
I am rambling, but I just wanted to thank you for being able to clarify in physical... in words how felt it was.
Thank You.

That's what I am gonna go with.

It seems to me that Justin is something of a chameleon.
When he was with Ethan, he was all intense and arty.
When he was with Cody, it was the pink posse thing.
In between there was his stint as a political activist over the Stockwell thing.
In Hollywood, he was all Hollywood.
Now he's caught up in Ben and Mikey's homemaking and the prop 14 thing, so it's about settling down and having a house in the suburbs.
I don't think any of those are the true Justin. And I think that only Brian sees who the true Justin is. Or could be.
As it's only Justin who truly sees who Brian is.

And I know what you mean about feeling bad about not feeling bad, too.
I kept thinking ... is it just me? I guess that's why I posted so many bits and pieces about the ending, I was trying to work through all of that.
Glad this one made sense to you.
