Increasing average sleep and activity levels somewhat in concert is key. Back in my gym days, if I sacrificed sleep time for gym time, it almost always wasn't worth it.
I actually know this which is why I'm keeping up with my sleep and trying to get over 6 hours. A faulty alarm clock was to blame this time. I spent half an hour trying to get it to quit alarming at the wrong time.
