Oh awesome! Looks like there are still some fine folk on my flist. How are you all?

I will probably start posting on LJ again. I miss the verbosity allowed in it, tumblr moves so so quickly and oftentimes it feels like I am talking into a void. Will still be tumblring of course, but yea sometimes I feel like talking to myself and LJ is still best ( Read more... )

Yea, Tumblr is a fickle mistress indeed... I'm especially irritated that Tumblr's way of working makes it impossible to really talk/reply with people without using the badly designed private messaging system (I know the designers wanted it to be a blogging platform and not a messaging platform but if you're still going to put ways of messaging there... you know... outbox pls?) or downloading stuff and spamming the crap out of everyone's dash and making people leave.
Not to mention that you can't really talk much of negative stuff there, which is why LJ is still the place where I go to air my feelings.

I'll be glad to see you back here again!

I'll see everything you (I'm sleepy, pardon) said about tumblr and raise you that once you've re/blogged something, it's basically impossible to find it again after more than a month. It's worse if you're trying to find something on someone else's journal - you need to know the blog owner's tagging system and you need to be willing to sift through loading pages upon pages of history to find a post,

So hooray for wandering back to LJ on all fronts!

Yeah, I (and several other) had to create a separate reblog tumblr just for making sense for these and not spamming my art account with endless amount of armor and nature reblogs :D
And man, tags, there's something that you can never win with, there's so much drama/problems about people not tagging triggering stuff, or other people trying to force others to tag stuff they don't want to tag (like tagging spoilers for every series they draw fanart of), not to mention passive-aggressive tagging and whatnot...
And I myself made the mistake of going "I dun tag nothin!" at the start and now i have 70+ pages of art I need to go over to tag the properly for my own reasons... sheesh (firstworldproblems).

Nice to see you back... I agree that tumblr still leaves a lot to be desired in terms of communicating with other folks. I think I'm barely on any 'social media' these days, but sad that there aren't people on lj as before.

Yeaah, personal talk is... I don't know, tumblr just feels really public for some reason. Plus some people over there are loonies and I kinda worry about exposing personal issues over there since it's hard to keep track of who's actually looking at things. Whereas LJ you can flock stuff and pretty much call it a day.

I like tumblr. It got me drawing again after a long period of not drawing. But it is not a good all-purpose platform. They talk about wanting to be a blogging site but even the most basic crappy blogs these days have idiotproof comment sections where you can communicate with people, usually in a threaded format even, so tumblr's really a weird subpar example of a blog platform in that respect.
