Hawai'i Part Two: Mostly About Goats.

So, I was told that some bloke was selling goats for $50, and I was asked if I wouldn't mind choosing one, naming her, and bottle feeding her. Since K's mother was very keen to get goat's milk and cheese, I said yes. I've never been overly keen on goats, but ickle things are always ridiculously sweet, and besides, it didn't sound very hard ( Read more... )

They really are =) Considering how weird adult goats can look, the little ones have no business being half as lovely as they actually are!

hugging goats is definitely a fine plan. I am becoming increasingly aware of just how fine goats are (if you've not seen the pics of tree climbing goats I thoroughly recommend it, both for it's ridiculosity and for the goats expressions of "yeah, we're in trees, and?").

Sounds like there have been ups and downs, so I hope more ups are coming your way. :)

I've not seen the tree climbing goats - I'll look it up. Ours do like climbing, but they haven't progressed to anything more ambitious than the furniture, the stairs, and the water trough...

Just looked up the tree climbers - that is a very surreal picture!

It sounds rather like you got cursed with "May you live in interesting times" and that you're making the best of it.

Certainly I've never been to Hawaii, nor for that matter anywhere South of the Tropic of Cancer or more than 6 hours difference from GMT.

Here's hoping your neurons fall in to line, along with the rest of your plans.

Can't say that Hawai'i was one of the places I thought I'd ever visit, let alone live in! Life does seem to be very full of 'stuff' right now, even if I'm just hanging around a field being followed by goats...

I wonder if you can train them to go pee in a litter tray like cats?

I don't see why not in theory. I bet those made LA people who keep the dwarf goats as pets do that. Although a proper-sized goat might well make more mess trying to use the tray than if they'd just gone on the floor!
