The sibillant hiss of shadows alerted her that she was no longer alone in the darkened room. She span around as the glow on the candles illuminated the open door and the startled form of Lieutenant Childers, agape at the unexpected sight of the wanted pirate captain in the Admiral's private drawing room. 'But, Keziah, I mean, Captain de la Mara, what on earth are you..' Keziah slipped across the room and placed a gentle finger on the young officer's lips. 'Hush now', she smiled 'You are surely bought up not to pry into a ladies private affairs?' Childers reddened and conspicuously gulped and started to stutter a response until a harsh scottish voice cut across his stammering. 'Well, Captain, I certainly was not bought up in such a way, and I certainly see no lady present.' Captain MacLeod dropped his hand to his sword and snarled 'I will be seeing your hand free and away from your blade, if you would be so good?' Keziah saw the glowering naval officer standing in the corridor, masking and protecting the figure of Admiral Lawley who ( ... )

Heeee - I like Admiral Lawley very much.
And MacLeod is a good and proper bastard - much approval.
Thank you for the story snippet, it's shiny =)

Who are the heros and villans? those that follow the pure light of law or those that lurk shadowlike and understand the sins that lead foolish mortals to act as they do? It is so easy to judge, and so easy to deny others the right to judge in return.

One reason I like the book by Lyall Watson Dark Nature: A Natural History of Evil which, grossly summarised, proposes the idea that evil is that which is out of place, in the wrong amount or incorrectly directed ~ an imbalance as it were.

I hope your current neuronal imbalance sorts itself out to allow morpheus entry :)

Oooh - that's really interesting - especially since I think that was pretty much how the idea of Ma'at and ancient egyptian morality was first explained to me.

I shall put that book on my reading list as doubtless it will give my neurons lots of things to poke at - thank you =)

Was the Old Vic thing good?
Neurons are still fidgety and annoyed they couldn't go.
I think Dickens wrote an article on a christmas ball at Bedlam, sure I read that somewhere...

Old Vic was very fine indeed, just a tad busy so I could not do all that I would have wished. Must look out to see if they do anything similar again.

Story teaser for your neurons... thegael_arcayne June 4 2012, 23:35:41 UTC
Is everyone settled? *looks up; laughs* If I may ask, my dear, how did yourself and your tea make it up into the electrolier? ....Ahh, well naturally..... yes, of course you may if that is where you are comfortable. Now, what would we like to hear: "The delicious misadventures of Kallian Culinarious" or " On a moonlit night in the desert"? (cacophony of suggestion, opinion and conjecture) Ok, ok,... perhaps this is a better idea. Show of hands, "Th-...pardon?...Oh, how rude of me; my most sincere apologies... Show of wings, "Delicious Misadventures?"... "Moonlit Desert?"...Very well. *ahem ( ... )

Is everyone settled?

Neurons jostle around, spilling about the place like a thousand small ambulatory suns with big boots and miniature tea sets.

*looks up; laughs* If I may ask, my dear, how did yourself and your tea make it up into the electrolier?

One neuron steps forward looking solemn. "These are not the droids you are looking for," it says with a little hand gesture. All the other neurons turn and stare at it. It shuffles back. A silver holds up a sign. "wE Are h0lLogRmZ". Others start giggling and demonstrate this fact by running through various solid objects and each other.

....Ahh, well naturally.....

Neurons squabble about seating arrangements perching on all manner of surfaces, including each other and objects which appear to be invisible or imaginary. They chatter and bicker with various cries akin to 'here!' 'sit there!' and 'mine!' The silvers look on like children despairing at the antics of younger sibling...
