The thing I would do is Google for the title. And ideally, look on Amazon too. That tells you that, for instance, there are half a dozen books called "nightfall", including one by Isaac Asimov.

Ideally, Google should give you only links to your own pages (like this one, for instance) and Amazon should give you

Your search ""the tale of preacher morrow"" did not match any products.
Showing results using some of your search terms

Sadly, it might turn out that your favourite title is taken.

It can be a small thing: my working title for my Victorian thing was "The Spirit of Mars" -- which fails the title test, since it happens to be the name of a rather famous robot.

Changing one preposition is all it takes to get a pass.

But if you want a wider audience, such pragmatism might be necessary.
