"When one is a child, who you like isn’t a matter of conscious thought and calculation. The young mind lacks experience, and so falls back to animal instinct for its choices. A look, a gesture, a tone of voice - something about a person will sing out to you - and you’ll know in an instant if you find them trustworthy, without being able to fully comprehend why. "

I find this quite wonderful.

I was ridiculously shy as a child, but I do remember a very small handful of people who I thought were wonderful. I know there was no good reason for it, they were no kinder, more interesting or better known to me than any of the other adults around. I just know I would have happily trailed after them to the ends of the earth with scarcely a backwards glance. There must have been something about them, but I've no idea what =)

I'm a ridiculously shy adult, and this rather spoke of how I find people now. :)

That was amasing. I only listened to the first and last song suggestions as they totally blew me away also. Thankyou

Thank you - I'm glad you liked it. There is some more story to follow still, but this chapter with the battle at the wood was the one more than the others I wanted people to read - and I was listening to the Apocolyptica piece of music on a loop whilst I wrote it =)
