It has just occurred to me that how I wish to dress is invariablly twinned with whatever story I'm writing at the time. (This has probably been blindingly obvious to everyone else for years, but apparently I've only just noticed

Ooh, I've been to the one in town but not the Bethnal Green one. I shall look them up - even if they don't have anything suitable it will have added to my knowledge of weird antique/retro shops - never a bad thing =)
I am getting someone from Legion of Dreams to make me a splendiferously ponce jacket because Sutler's is too expensive for my broken bank account :D :D
But to vaguely echo the above comment, Beyond Retro in Brighton had some what looked like WW1-esque jackets when I went in there with my sister a couple of months ago, so ones in London might have some too :)
Ah well. I'm currently trying my usual trick of hitting ebay with sticks until it coughs up something suitable (not sure how successful I'll be in this instance, can but try...)
WOrk - Exhausting and annoying. Team won't let me do a thing and are treating me like I should be in a bath chair wrapped in a tartan blanket. Serverely pissed off by it all. Plus favourite child terrified by the splint so I have to keep hand in my sleeve.
Life - See above.
Hand - Getting more movement back but aching where one of the kids grabbed it at lunch.
Just remember - the Marquis de Carabas managed to make being pushed about in a bath chair look like a swashbuckling and dashing sort of thing to do - so if the do bundle you up, retaliate with verve and panache! Or something. I think I need more tea.
Blah. Sorry to hear things are not going entirely well - I know you wanted to be busy, but busy with vexation probably wasn't what you had in mind =P
I recommend sarcastic comments by Holmes or a running commentary by Harry in your brain to make things more bearable...
Ooh, the vintage shops in the Arches in Camden. You're right, they might well have something. Although I've notice a distressing tendency for them being expensive since Camden was made more 'chic and trendy'. Still, Camden outings are fun...
The downside is, of course, the expense. I got my shiny red army jacket there a few years ago now, I think that was around £100. How this would compare I don't know. All I know is that it was shiny, and makes me look like a very angry, gold speckled tomato.
