jos (i think that's the fat bloke's name) died, penniless and away from home, still believing in becky even though she was basically taking him for all he was worth.
she ended up living in england, with a stipend from her son (who got lots of money cause his cousin died so he was getting the title and the fortune. he also refused to have anything else to do with mother.) she was busily signing up for all the charitable subscriptions and making herself into a saint, though no one who actually knew her believed it anymore than any of her other charades.
I thought as much! Thanks for that, my neurons couldn't believe the film - Becky travels happily in India away from society with Jos and is nice to everyone, The End. You call that an ending - in a Thackery novel!? He'd probably spit nails...
they couldn't have made the real becky into a movie heroine. she'd have been too unlikeable. heroines are allowed to be a little bad, but not really selfish like she is in the book.
