Topps Cards

Mar 20, 2010 22:51

Topps Star Wars Galaxy 5 trading cards supposedly came out at the end of February, but I haven't seen them yet. Has anyone been more fortunate in tracking them down than myself?

I can already tell you the four most awesome cards in the series...:

I haven't paid attention to any of the trading cards for ages, but if this is the actual art of the cards in question, I may just have to change that. These are gorgeous.

Series 4 had some awesome Darth Revan and Talon Karrde cards that I wanted, but I can't find them anywhere.

Those are pretty good, especially Tycho. Wedge's eyes and eyebrows are good, but his jaw's too pointy, though that seems to be a feature of the artist's style. He does look rather worried though, poor love.

It took me a good look to figure out what's happening with Wes' arms. He's got his right elbow on Wedge's shoulder, with the hand turned back towards himself (fingertips just visible), and it's his left hand that flicking at Hobbie.

I think I like the Hobbie one, best. Something's off about Wes' hair and Tycho looks a little too bishonen to me. lol

Ah, I saw this one on Deviantart.

They all look... maybe too pretty. And I don't know what's up with Wedge's jawline. But I love Wes being obnoxious and Hobbie's expression. And too pretty or not, Tycho!

LOL WES. WHAT is he doing? (Where did his back arm go?)

Is this actually what they're going to look like?

Even if not, and despite the fact that I have no idea what Topps cards are, I might need these. FAB FOUR FTW.

The card series as a whole seems to be all over eBay, but I don't know about individual cards.

As far as I can tell, the Topps people get in touch with artists and ask them to draw something like 16-32 cards for the series. They get something like a sheet of 9 to do whatever they want (which is where the Rogues, Revans and ewoks come in), but then they are given a specific set of characters for the rest of the entries.

I have a handful from the last series, but most of them are duplicate Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett cards. This is the first time I've seen Rogues spring up. :)
