Fucking NAVY

Jul 31, 2008 13:40

I received a forwarded email from my Brother through my Mom. It seems he has taken a turn for the worst about the death of our Grandma. From what I read he became really upset while on shore leave in Korea. It seem his ship mates were trying to console him when they ran into a Shore Patrol unit. They took over and filed a report and brought my ( Read more... )

you know, sir, what this really boils down to is they suspect he was crying- in public no less- which is a well known symptom of The Ghey and they are afeared that they will catch the homovirus themselves. and they must prevent The Ghey from bringing dishonor upon the navy with another display.

bullshit all around.

I bet you hit the nail on the head with this one. He was crying, and in public, and in an Asian country no less. If anything they took him away so that he would not be made fun of, or cause any more of a scene. I can almost, almost, understand the NAVY's reaction. Not because of any Homosexuality issues but just for the plain fact that a US service member is showing weakness of some kind. Well weakness is not the right word, rather a vulnerability in public. Which in turn reflects upon the rest of our armed services, though We really know it doesn't but to foreign nations it does. Some might say, well he looks like a tourist so who cares if he gets emotional. Even though he is wearing civvies and not in uniform, its not hard to tell that he is with the NAVY seeing as how an entire Carrier fleet just steamed into port and a bunch of boys and girls disembarked and are in town. I may say I understand it coming from having an open mind about things, but I cannot agree with it at all. It is not right to make him feel worse ( ... )

Wow--that is ridiculous. The poor kid is dealing with the loss of his grandmother. He's HUMAN! He's allowed to grieve without everyone and their mother giving him more crap about it! :( I hope you hear from him directly soon.

It is ridiculous, and heartless. I can only think what transpired but I imagine things were said that were not mentioned in the email. He hates his job, did not get the one he signed up for. Basically the recruiter lied to him about being able to get the job he wanted, he ended up being too old or some crap. When not on cruise he is stuck in an ass-backwords town near Fresno California with nothing to do but work real hard and then go drinking and look at jack rabbits and Black Widows. He is depressed, allot, and my Grandma's passing was just too much for him. Same thing happened two years ago when my Grandpa passed away while he was on cruise. Although nothing happened on shore leave. Like I said before I can understand how the NAVY feels about it. They really cannot afford to have a distraught service member working on sensitive equipment like an F-18. He works hard, but he needs to focus. And being Human he is fallible and may make a mistake. They should at least let him call home, email alone is no way to ( ... )
