I have run into this myself. It only happens to me when someone leaves or joins the group after it is formed. I have to do /reload ui after each boss in LFR to clear it up. It does fix the issue until people drop / join group again so I just do /reload ui before each fight just in case. I also have my fiance on the computer next to me in the same group to tell me if things are not matching up between our group lists.
I've seen that type of behavior when someone joins or leaves the group in combat, or if I join a group while either me or the group is in combat. Frame adjustments are disabled in combat, and frequently the default UI doesn't fix itself when combat is over, but some addons might be able to. I've also seen it with party frames, which are not default, so I sincerely doubt that the problem is completely exclusive to the default UI - but probably more common. I'm DPS, so I rarely have to worry about it, but I can definitely understand the frustration for a healer

I'm a healer as well, and I run VuhDo, and I occasionally will have this issue as well - most often it happens when somebody drops out of a 10- or 25- man raid in the middle of a fight, and short of /reloading, I have yet to find a fix.

He might be able to get by with just a /reload after every boss. We'll try that!
thank you!

I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to switch to an addon like vuhdo. :(
