Mount squee...Or not?

Oct 15, 2012 11:35

I figured I'd share this with people who might actually care. I was cruising the AH as I usually do in the morning, and I saw this up for 19,800 buyout: http://www.wowhead.com/item=52200/reins-of-the-crimson-deathcharger

Edit: Apparently this is a scam? I am not thrilled if I just lost out on 20k.

I hate to break it to you but when they're up that cheap, they're not leigitimate. The Crimson Deathcharger is being widely duped at the moment. If you're lucky, they won't remove it from you, but the likelihood is even though you weren't aware, the mount will be removed from your spellbook and you're out the 19k.

Er...How is that even possible?

That it's being duplicated? The same way someone was wiping everyone out in Org and Stormwind the other night, or managed to bring the realms down. Hacking. Unfortunately, Blizz hasn't patched this hole yet.

Doing some digging, it appears that if you bought the mount from the AH in good faith, it might not be removed, but there's still a chance it will be when they do fix the hole and mass ban those responsible.

I honestly had no idea. I typically look over the AH for mounts in the morning. That kind of sucks...

Yeah, me too considering all this.

As long as you bought it through the AH you should be fine. It's when you do actual trades with people that you're likely to lose the item.

Yes I bought it on the AH. There's absolutely no way to tell it was anything less than legit. It's not like it says 'HEY I AM FAKE' on it. I couldn't have possibly known.

I dunno about scammers but I got mine for 30K at the AH and it was legit. Congrats on a great mount!

I'm hoping mine was, but I am SERIOUSLY creeped out right now.

Another thought, there was a long lull recently and prices of everything dropped. People who were bored might have legitimately obtained these because it's money, and it's something to do when there's not much else. I mean that's increasingly old content now and there have been many months to do it.
