profession question for those in beta...

Apr 09, 2012 02:48

since I haven't gotten my invite yet, and haven't run into any info on *this* yet - does anyone know if they're going to be making the professions as hair tearingly grindy in MoP? You know, the "you have to do several days' worth of dailies to collect the tokens to get ONE recipe/cut/whatever so you can skill up while you do enough dailies to get ( Read more... )

I dont have access to all the professions yet, but from what I've seen, they've implemented the ability to purchase the next step of training (Im on my work laptop and not my home PC so I can't check to see what it's called), but they haven't, that I've found so far, implemented any of the new recipes/schematics/plans, etc.

Nor do they have any of the mats in yet aside from the cloth. My hunter's a miner and my pally's a herbalist, and I haven't found a single node on either.

Thank you. Honestly, I do appreciate any word, even if it's "dunno yet." =)

Heck, ESPECIALLY if it's "dunno yet" because it's nice to know I wasn't just blindly missing something! :D

There is also leather from skinning, so you can train and max out the new skinning, but nothing to do with it as there's no leatherworking recipes.

I hope they don't do that again. I hate JCing dailies the most. I don't mind grinding leather to buy LWing patterns or anything, but I do mind doing dailies for patterns. I mean, it takes months to get all of the GOOD JCing patterns. -_-

God yeah, I've been having nightmares of doing that again... My blacksmith put in some dedicated hours of mining and had all the patterns she wanted in a day or two. My Jeweler? All the Wrath recipes went grey five or more skill points before she'd even be eligible for the JC dailies, and all she could get from the trainer was Fire Prism - which gave ONE skill point, and had a 24 HOUR cooldown. It took her almost a week to even be able to DO the dailies to BEGIN gathering tokens. Between that and cooking, in as long as I've been playing, that's the closest I've ever been to a game design choice leaving me cursing Blizz as a company, the game designers personally, their parentage, the company direction, and wishing a sinkhole would open up and devour the offices whole.

God help me if they do that to us again...

I hate JC dailies, too, which is why my JC sits around and makes me no gold whatsoever, because I only bought the patterns I personally use, and half the time the cut gem is cheaper on the AH than the raw gem, so... bleh. Someday I'll put the time and effort into making gold through crafting professions, but not if it takes weeks of stupid dailies just to get the basic recipes.

I love the JCing dailies. I'd rather do those than wait for world drops any day, and they're easy.

I never even realized you *could* cut patterns for points, I always used the trainer ones, and I ground slooooowly to max with fire prisms.

They've hinted that JC and cooking might have stat specializations-- if you pick agi you'll need to learn all the agi gems before you can do another stat.

My mains do not use the same main stat, so this will be annoying.

They didn't really hint that about cooking, they flat out said it.

Well. That's nice if you're a hybrid class that uses more than one spec on a regular basis. :\

Professions are incomplete as of this moment on PTR.

The only things available for testing are the pandaren starter area 1-10 or so, Jade Forest 85-86, the first dungeon (which is still under construction), and the monk class itself.

edit: oh and the revamped dungeons like RFC, Scarlet Monastery, and Scholomance, but not the heroic versions yet, I think.

That's cool. I just really wasn't sure if there had been anything I'd missed in blue posts or articles or anything of the sort. Thank you! =)
