Lady Pandas

Mar 19, 2012 02:57

So, I posted this earlier in a bout of fail, not realizing the NDA wasn't up, but seeing as it's past midnight PST now, I think this should be okay to re-post. I'm sure we'll be getting lots and lots of great Panda news and posts, but since I'm still awake and had already stumbled on this by accident, I figured I'd post it again. =)
Female Panda Spoiler Here (Also, a bunch of other spoilers in the comments!) )

I saw the pictures that were posted on the Warcraft facebook and I *love* the lady pandas.

So rolling a lady panda monk when the time comes, and possibly future shamans will be Pandas instead of Draenei (for Alliance at least).

I'm really liking them, too. At first when I saw the silhouette, I was slightly disappointed, because in my head what makes the most sense is for them to be really close to the male pandas. However, this is WoW we're talking about, and I do love me a cute, adorable, still curvy panda lady, so that disappointment was pretty short lived. XD Plus, I find her face adorable. :D

Mildly disconcerted she's red instead of black, but on the whole, I'm miles more enthused about this than I was about female worgen. She reminds me of how female dwarves are shaped, and that makes me a happy kitty.

I'm hoping that, as with the Worgen, there will be many skin color options. (I was a bit disconcerted by her redness as well, lol.) Other than that, though, she's really growing on me. I've gone from, "It's okay," to "Yay!" in the last few hours. XD
ETA: I just saw a post on Tumblr of a black Panda lady that is apparently up on Blizz's facebook page. 8D

Well, tauren are different colours, right? Brown and white and black and speckled and such. So theoretically, pandas can be like that too (regardless of how it works in nature), and then we can have a PANDA BEAR COUNT DOWN

XD Yeah, I hadn't even thought about tauren, but you are correct. XD I edited the post to include the picture of the black/white panda lady as well. I wonder if as things go we'll get more color options (nature be damned), or just the two. XD
ETA: And by color, I meant spots and all that crap, because all the b&w pics seem to have the same patterning (although maybe the last one looks a bit different).

Meh, they put fur on the dwarf model, and that's about it. It doesn't look BAD, but... eh. It's more obvious in the other screenshot on mmo-champion.

Hmm, that's a good point. I feel like the dwarves move awkwardly so I wonder if the movements will be changed much.

According to Wow insider the animations and movement are amazing. Still haven't seen a video yet though.

if it's anything like the demo from Blizzcon, there are whole new animations and ways of moving - which will extend to monks of other races too!

The lady pandas look a bit too teddy bear-ish for me, but the shape is pretty good and hopefully there'll be enough customization to make them a bit more bad-ass like the dudes. I'm also wondering how big she is in comparison to the male - she looks very short/light. WoW sure does love its extreme sexual dimorphism.

Edit: Oh! The B&W girl looks a lot better for some reason.

And though this concept art really does make them look like they're catering to the furry fetish niche, the face looks pretty good:

Furry fetish niche? What? Furry stuff is much more of a fandom/hobby than a sexual "fetish."

Dude, can't you CLEARLY see how she's posing in a way that is a complete sex-pot fetish pose!? I mean, look at that front, static posture center fold! Forget showing off the anatomy and overall body shape, we're obviously here to fap! I mean...There's BOOBS! That must mean furry sex fetish!

...Yeah. I'm not exactly following the logic here, either.

I was being facetious, but she's an almost-naked humanoid panda in armor that's basically panties. Any time you put human sexual characteristics on an animal that doesn't have them, people are going to read them as sexualized.

I know that, that's why I specifically added "fetish." There's the fandom aspect of the hobby and also the dress up and have sex aspect of the furry community. I'm not dissing furries, I'm just saying she's very representative of a lot of x-rated furry art.
