This has been posted twice (from what I can remember) over the past few days. :/ Not to be mean, but please check a few pages back before posting. I think even a few posts down on the main page it has one of the reposts. Bleh! Sorry, I just don't think we need to discuss it another time if there's posts for discussions already!
I fully understand that it could have been posted here before, hence the reason I said you guys might all have seen it, but my article to go along with it, I'm pretty sure you haven't seen, unless you clicked the link. ;)
Actually I did read the article. I wanted to see if the link was the same video before I posted the comment. I skimmed at first because I was tired but, now that I've read it, I do agree with you.
We're all human! Reposts happen. I was just letting you know. When I wrote it, I was like, 'I hope I don't sound...snippy!' The internet needs a 'This is the tone this comment is meant to be taken in. ' XD
OMG totally! I don't think it was snippy at all, and as a long time rper, I have learned to take internet tone with a grain of salt. I don't ruffle easily anymore. But I'm super glad you read my article! Thank you!
But I have to admit I am horribly notorious about not checking that kind of thing by going back more than a page or sometimes not at all to double check posts. *shame*
The thing that pissed me off the most was the repetitive "if you don't want people to treat you badly- don't tell them you're female" like our GENDER is the problem here and we should hide it to be treated fairly- like that's even a viable reason in this day and age of vent/teamspeak even if it wasn't complete idiocy. *anger*
That is exactly what I posted my article about. Why should I have to lie about my gender because some douchebag assumes me=me avatar?
You want me to join you in a raid or a quest or a group to go loot shit, I'm probably down for it. I like looting. But dude, how does whether or not I have a boyfriend matter?
Thanks for that. I'll make sure to read the comments. And I hope you at least take a moment to check out the link because it's actually a blog article I wrote about the video. :)
I really dig this girl's thesis -- what an interesting way to approach the subject! (At least, it made me think of it in a different way -- and it also made me laugh and kind of want to buy one of those dresses.)
The video itself is great-the Youtube comments are vile. Especially the fact there are comments getting voted up saying, "Sexism doesn't exist anymore in gaming, stop acting like a special snowflake" kind of thing. :(
