Not a mage, but I suggest posting your armory first. Talents/gems/enchants matter a lot.

Need more info. Like your armory or provide your toon name and server. Also what is your rotation? are you using your spells with long cooldown times?

Should I be rotating tallents?

I kinda keep the same keysets for the arcane tallents...

A rotation just refers to the order that you use your abilities in. It has nothing to do with your talents.

Arcane Blast till you are about 40% mana the evocate up. Then AB 3 or 4 times and then Arcane Missiles if they procced till your evocate is back up. Use Arcane Power with your mana gem every CD. and use Mirror Images every CD.

It would help if you linked your armory, told us what you were doing, told us what they were saying in terms of you having "rotten dps" ....

i don't know much about mages but my best advise would to be to get in a guild/group that doesn't treat you like poop! After that you can worry about increasing your DPS. Don't play with buttheads!

How bad is bad?

Arcane mages use just a few spells, so getting good at being an arcane mage is a matter of knowing what spells to use and having the right gear.

Check out ElitistJerks.com's mage forum section for more info about arcane mages! Or you can even email me (email on profile page) if you'd rather I just explain it to you in plain English. <3
