Feels like I've been posting a lot here lately. >>
Anyway, I have this level 80 Death Knight. Hadn't touched her since Wrath. At all. I think you can probably tell where this is going.

I do know that Frost 2H is the choice for leveling now although I was always Unholy before. So, since I couldn't find anything about leveling as Unholy anywhere, ( Read more... )

Try socketing strength over +hit and +stamina and if you have more fun with Unholy, I say go for it. I'm not too experienced with Unholy, my DKs tend to be either Frost or Blood. *shrugs* But really, play the spec YOU want, not what people say you should use. :)

Heh. I could have written this post!

I have a DK that I'm slowly leveling in Cata (that's her in the icon - Bleubell), and I'm so horrible! She's unholy with a two-hander (dunno if that's wrong) and I died a lot too in the beginning. But once I got some gear upgrades it wasn't nearly as bad, although I still have no idea about rotation or anything. I fail at watching runes as well, LOL! I kinda just hit whatever lights up! Since she's not going to be raiding or even doing any dungeons, I just try to survive as best I can.

Leveling in ilvl 200 stuff is tough. I leveled as DW frost, but I don't really like any of the other specs. I also leveled a lot just through mining (up until about 83 that's all she did). She was in a mix of ICC10 and ToC gear when Cata hit and she was able to kill level 84 stuff at level 80. It was tough, and I had to ghoul sac and sometimes health potion and ended up with ~20% health at the end, but stuff died! You could also go blood for the additional self healing ( ... )

I can't think of anyone I know running 2H frost, they're all DW, so I don't have any spec advise.

My BF was 2H frost, so I was for a long time. When I tweaked my DKs tree to DW and bought a couple of weapons, my DPS doubled.

That said, if you like Unholy, I'd go with that. I never could get the hang of classes with pets, but I imagine he'd come in handy.

I like Unholy too! Play what you like, I know for a fact that people play better when they are happy with what they are doing. :)

All of my toons started Cata with some 264 gear. I thought it was going to be easy for everyone, until I got my pally to 80 last week, and went to Hyjal. OMG it was horrible! Those rock elementals kicked my butt, so I started queueing for the ICC 5 mans, to get a few pieces of epic gear to help out. I started out questing as a tank, then switched to dps when I go to the regrowth portion of Hyjal. It's amazing what a few Cata quest greens can do.

Stick to what you like! If you like unholy, just stay unholy. It's not like you don't have plenty of time to get used to the new specs, and decide what to do when you hit 85.
