Class Feedback

Sep 16, 2011 19:06

I didn't see this posted, so I decided to post it here.

Blizzard seeks player feedback.

The link above goes to WoWInsider, which has links to each of the class threads as well as links to the European threads.

Wow we all have a low opinion of the playerbase, lol.

Well I don't exactly agree with the wording but I clicked it anyway. It's more like the things other people complain about aren't the things I necessarily complain about and I think a lot of people ask for fairly OP abilities/changes that aren't necessary.

It's a tad harsh lol, but I was in a sourish mood. I tried to tone it down with other words lol, because some people feel like the playerbase is stupid and some merely shortsighted.

I filled one in, haven't been back to check since because I do NOT want to see if anyone's commented on my post (I doubt they have, but official game forums is just such a breeding ground for trolls, I'd rather not risk it). I doubt it'll fix much, or anything, but when the lottery ticket is free I'm gonna grab one anyway.
I'm Kabang in the hunter thread, if anyone's curious. Short version of my answer is: Fix minimal range issues on bosses, fix pet issues, fix trap launcher, make Survival more Survival-y (especially in PVP) and gief moar pets*.

*I wrote especially wolves in the post, but have since noticed that moths are even worse off it terms of variety. Then again, I'm not sure if there's a way to make a moth that doesn't look gross, so maybe it's all the same...

Using my rogue main for this. ghosts September 17 2011, 00:24:40 UTC
I never read any of the threads in the link above so I hope I'm doing this right.

i. What type of content do you focus on? I'm more into PVE than PVP but when PVE is lacking (ie, guild is in a raiding rut, or I'm bored) I'll spend a few weeks/months focusing solely on PVP.

ii. If PvE, what type of PvE? I'm predominantly a raider, but that also means I'm doing quite a few 5-mans so I can get gear and tokens to buy tier.

iii. If PvP, what type of PvP? PVP I tend to stick to BGs. I haven't done rated BG's yet because I've not found a group I like, and I honestly haven't touched arena since WotLK. I lost my arena partner and thus, lost interest.

iv. What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? None really, other than I feel rogues look like they are only bringing damage to the tables and alot of people tend to think they're 'useless'. It would be nice to offer at least a bit of a buff or something, so we're not overlooked for other damage dealing classes during raid comp time.

v. What makes playing your class more fun? For me, ( ... )

I agree with the combat swords SO MUCH. Daggers is just weird as combat!

I keep mutilate for PVP and such and I miss my daggers but all the same, if I'm playing combat? I WANT MY SWASHBUCKLER SWORDS.

I do sub for PvP and that's definitely a dagger spec and FEELS like a dagger spec. Combat? Definitely swords, axes and maces!

Edit to add this is about my holy/disc priest.

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both] - both
If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other] - 10 man raids, doing hard modes now
If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs] - random bgs
What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters. - Hymn of Hope not always giving the casting priest mana back, I mean it really should
What makes playing your class more fun? - good spell selection, I like having a large toolbox as a healer. And although it's not nearly as important I like having some good looking abilities too (Penance!)
What makes playing your class less fun? - when we don't really have a reason to use our large toolbox (PW:S spam)
How do you feel about your "rotation"? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.) - vaguely good
What's on your wish list for your class? - higher proc rate for Surge of Light and/or the ability ( ... )

Mind vision is awesome for freaking people out in BGs. If I'm guarding LM in AB and things are going slow for the moment, I mind vision random opponents just to watch them freak out.

I thought I was the only one who found delight in this.

I once seriously freaked out this horde pally in AB with mind vision. It's so funny to watch them blow their bubbles to try to get rid of mind vision. This pally kept running into walls/ cliffs to try to keep me from seeing anything and finally just let some alliance kill her, thinking she'd get rid of me.

But, I found her again. And kept mind visioning her.

The hunter feed back from skimming and the wowinsider article, seems pretty good to me. I don't think they'll necessarily do what people ask for etc... However, it will give them a good idea on what people like and dislike and they'll probably implement things in the next expansion taking that in mind.

I honestly think this is more what they're trying to do than actually trying to balance the classes. They've said in the past that they're really happy with the current class balance (which can always use some tweaking, but overall). I just think they've managed to push themselves further away from their players than they thought, and they're trying to reconnect with us and get an idea of how WE play and how it differs from their in game testers.
