Dear wow ladies (or anything else you prefer to be called!),
I play a mage after two months of inactivity, and I need help figuring out the best pve spec. I've checked all my old sources, and a lot of them are now defunct or not updated (Empowered Fire is a good example of this). i don't really play my mage, but i can tell you our guild mages raid as arcane or fire, thought we had one "try frost on trash to see" but he went back to arcane for the boss. but yea, our fire mage is usually on top of the meters, sooooo i would imagine it is still fine for dps- maybe a rotation change?
he also has his 4 piece for t11, which i only mention because they were discussing something about being sad about breaking it in guild chat.

My mage (at a similar ilvl to yours, played by someone who knows the theorycraft, but isn't very skilled at dps button masking) usually puts out around 14-15k in Fire, and 18-20 in arcane, so a switch might well be your best bet.

The only thing I can see that might be missing rotationwise is to make sure you're using scorch to keep the crit debuff up on your Target.

You can upgrade your neck fairly early in the new hyjal dailies, as soon as you've unlocked the Molton Front. Trash runs to get to honoured will get you a belt ofc, and if you're lucky, the BoE staff drop.

Fire and arcane should both outperform frost in a raid, so your fire spec should be fine. Your rotation seems fine if your also keeping the scorch debuff up - but do you have your on use trinket macroed to something? Or are you working that into your rotation? If you don't macro it, you probably want something to track when it's available ( ... )

I keep scorch up, and the trinket is macroed to to my fireball spell. I use both combustionhelper, mage nuggets, and tellmewhen, but I usually end up just checking magenuggets and tellmewhen to make sure I have a decent ignite and LB up. I'll take a look into that trinket you recommended- I just got a lot of gold from selling BoE epics I find in the newer heroics. I'll also try reforging my gear back, like you recommended. Thank you very much for your advice!
