Saving my bank alt..

Earlier I ended up on a random wow blog - sometimes it's like Wikipedia or TV Tropes..you follow a link, then another and another, and before you know it you're up until 2am. *deep breath* ANYWAY...I saw a comment saying this:

"The one thing I would do is take a couple of hours and level your bank alt to 10 if they have anything of value. Blizzard ( Read more... )

I know that once upon a time the Armory could not find players under level 10, so this post actually has some merit. I don't have any pre-10 toons anymore, so I don't know if it is still true, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to level your bankalt to 10 - those first 10 levels fly by, nowadays!

I leveled mine to ten, just to be safe, but mostly to collect some of the qt starting zone gear.

I don't know about backing up, but I know the name is fair game unless you're over level 10. (I've gotten three names freed for my own use, yay!) I always level my bank alts to at least 10. It doesn't take much time, especially if you have access to heirlooms.

I think this is only true if that toon isn't logged onto frequently. If Blizz saw that the toon was being logged into and doing things with mail and the AH, I doubt they'd kill it for a name.

I don't think they *kill* the characters anyway, even if they're freeing up names. Just flag them for a rename the next time they're logged in. They still probably don't do this on frequently logged in characters, but either way the character wouldn't be deleted.

I've had GMs restore toons that are under level 10 before, so it seems to be pretty hit or miss. I think it's easier for them to track things over level 10 however, and anything that makes the GM's job easier helping me is something that I like to do. I'm lazy and designated my unused DK as my bank toon, anyways. XD

I can't answer this for sure, but I know that if you have a vanity guild with a guild bank and you're the only member and it's a level 1, it's likely that blizz won't restore that characters stuff OR the vanity guild bank.

Happened to two different hacked guildies, they no longer keep stuff of value in their vanity guild banks.
