ensidia's shamans do a pretty decent blog for stat weights and gear and stuff. I can't remember the URL but they're pretty good.

I'm leveling a shaman right now (she's 82 at the time of this post). Hopefully some of the tips and tricks I've learned along the way will be helpful. :D

From what I can tell, both Enhancement and Elemental are quite viable for leveling. It's more about personal taste than anything. I really like leveling as Enhance because I have Spirit Wolves and Shamanistic Rage to help me out in a pinch, and Maelstrom Weapon is amazing for an instant-cast, no-mana heal or Lightning Bolt

Oh, and as for stats... you want hunter gear, heh. Since hunters no longer use mana as a resource, pretty much every single piece of melee mail armor you're going to come across has agility, stamina, and crit/haste/hit/mastery post-80. Even our Tier 11 gear is itemized much like a hunter: no intellect or spirit to be found! Thankfully, we Enhancement shamans rarely have issues with mana.

I recently hit 85 on my main, who's an enhancement/resto shaman. Most stat weights are specific to a given combination of gear, so the hardcore sim their current setups to make tweaks, but I mostly stick to generalities

If you want to do elemental the best list of stat priorites I've found are

Int> Spirit/Hit to cap>Haste>Mastery>Crit

Ele rotation is Flameshock, lavaburst, lighting bolt until you get 9 charges on your shield, then earthshock to blow for extra pew pews.

I leveled 1-85 ele and I love it. I have a pve and a pvp spec :x

I have to say, I did the -exact- same thing, hunter main to shaman. :D Ele shamans are just <3

(Now, however, I want to start another to make her enh. Cruel, cruel Blizzard, I have all of my server spots full. ><)

I am curious about how the melee shams live. I might make my goblin a shaman just to see but I think i might miss throwing around GIANT BALLS OF LAVA. muahahah.
