I'm bummed.

for any other engineers wondering if there's any gas clouds you can use your good ole' zap throttle on... the answer is no. we get the "cloth scavenging" buff only it's volatiles from herbing, skinning, and mining.I figured i'd google this before bed because my priest is enchanting/engineering and the only gas clouds i found were the poisonous red ( Read more... )

Yeah I was disappointed by this too as my main is Engineering/Inscription. I do have an Herbalism/Engineer alt, but even so the drop rate on volatile air from herbs seems very very low.

I'm crying on the inside. engineering is a big part of my priest, and i can't bear the thought of dropping it for something else (i could do alchemy or inscription as i have herbalists.) and enchanting... I have done too much to drop it.

It still has a lot of good perks without having the volatiles, but it is disappointing none the less.

Don't drop it. I was mining elementium on my engineer, and the drop rate of the volatiles seems ridiculously low. :(

What upsets me about it more than anything is that I really loved flying around and finding those clouds! Using the mote extractor was beyond awesome! It was like my engineer got these special nodes that others could just look at. *sigh* I am very sad about the change.

This is a dumb change because many engineers do not have a gathering profession as well. My main is an engineer and alchemist. I am not dropping one or the other. It's not really fair, imo.

Maybe if we all cry on the forums they'll change it? I agree, it's really dumb. Or we should at least have a chance to get them with like...fishing or something if we don't have a gathering prof.

I got Volatile Water via fishing the bloody water in Deepholm.

You get a chance of fishing up Volatile Water when you fish in most places. It's the Volatile Air that is the rare stuff.

My two mains are herbalism/alchemy and mining/engineering, so I've been transmuting Volatile Life into Air like mad. It's the only way I get much at all. If the Condenser is helping with Air drops, I shudder to think what it would be like without it.

I'm pretty miffed, myself, but at the same time Volatiles are fairly cheap, and my gatherers (a druid with skinning, and a DK with herb/mining) are finding more than enough for my main's profession so.... eh?

I miss farming clouds, though, I really do. I'd queue up for a heroic and just circle around... it was nice :(

Volatiles are cheap on your server? Airs are going for a lot on mine. It's pretty frustrating really. But I've got my ethers for my goggles made already. I need more for my Personal World Destroyer, but I'm just going to wait and hope that prices level out.

Yeah, they're around 6-8gold a pop. I haven't actually had to buy any yet because of my gatherers, though.

Airs are definitely priciest, though! I'll have to double check, but around 12-15g a pop? Or so?

I agree with the comments on wowhead-- having it proc off fishing would be nice for us engineers without a gathering profession :(
