What I find strange is this:

Surely they knew that as a community, we READ the patch notes, take a few weeks to digest them and then adjust our behaviour accordingly?

This was exactly that - the read the patch notes (it took us a bit longer to put the pieces together and it was so big and outside the box) and then collectively concluded that OUR beloved game in its present and coming incarnation (RealID, no privacy, FaceBook merger, ingame-advertising) the game had ceased to be worth playing

Honestly, I've been feeling almost physically ill for the past couple of days after the news hit. I didn't want to quit but I was ready to do so if they wouldn't back down. Every article and blog post I read about RealID was negative.

It has been an amazing experience, however, to really rally the community together - both here and through my guild where we have been debating and discussing and sharing, especially myself and another female guildie.
