Ooked in the dooker...I mean, that could be a good thing, or a bad thing. It depends on the circumstances I guess? lol
ETA: As a hunter with a ton of rare kills, reading most of this was news to me. >.> I would like to posthumously apologize to my Spirit Beast, Tyr, for taking one repeatedly for the team on these.
I'll have you know that I've used the instant revive on my pet more this xpac then I have all the rest of the time combined. I only ever use a ferocity pet, so he takes a beating. XD
For the jinyu and panderan rares, you need to make sure to use your stun to stop it AFTER they've started rain dance or spinning crane kick, because if you interrupt the cast, they don't have it on cooldown yet and will use it immediately once the stun has worn off.
Thank you. So printing this and keeping it handy. Also really glad I was on a hunter for the one rare I encountered. (And yes, my fourth hunter dinged 85 last night).
Great guide. My best friend just got the Glorious achievement for killing all of them, and I have been thinking of writing a guide but hadn't gotten to it. That Chi blast is just mean!
I'm listing below a couple dirty tricks for a few rare types. Not necessarily Fred Rogers Nice Person of the Day Award material, but if you REALLY want a kill/tag on a specific rare spawn/drop, keep reading. ^_^
All - Spawn times tend to be 90-130 minutes or so for most, some less, but I haven't seen much longer. If you are camping one, it's good to have some ability ready that will instantly tag the mob for you. So find your camp spot, tab out, and let NPC_Scan do the work for you. Make sure game sound is turned on.
Caching tricks - Remember to clear your cache frequently! Specifically delete the files creaturecache.wdb and npccache.wdb anytime a rare has appeared in NPC_Scan that you want to kill again. Now for the dirty part! Leave loot you don't want on the mobs. Yep, if you're not going to use it, don't take it for vendor / disenchant. Leave it on the mob, and for 30 minutes after your kill it will pop-up in other players' NPC_Scans. If it's in their cache and they're not actively clearing their cache, that's a greater chance
( ... )
Another trick on Jinyu's is if you see someone killing it, "Help" them so you're on the aggro table. Then when it does rain dance it'll be trying to target the both of you and fuck up their dodging. hehe
