How will the raid signup system coordinate with LJ? Will it be an entire replacement for group postings on LJ?

The plan is for it to completely replace livejournal for raids, because trying to coordinate 10+ people in livejournal is lol-worthy at best. I think it will remain to be seen (what is preferred overall, what people like using, how many people actually bother to look) what happens with the smaller instances, though :)

But the plan is for reminders in livejournal, at the very least - ie "Karazhan this weekend, sign up here" (with a link to the signup page), not just the magical assumption that people will look, at least at first.

Okay, as long as there will still be mentions of groups over on LJ, I think all will be well. I'm really not a fan of forums *looks at other comments* though I seem to be the sole holdout. I certainly don't mind using a non-LJ group signup system as long as I don't have to check someplace a million times a day (like I do with LJ) just to get into a group before it closes. :P

Yeah, I am also horrible at remembering to look at forums. *shudders*

Checking from work...would this replace livejournal?

You checked from work what :O

The plan is to work together with livejournal, not replace :) although the actual sign-up WOULD hopefully replace livejournal for 10+ person stuff, because coordinating people for raids that large is really difficult (I end up with a couple of pieces of scrap paper and a lot of time spent on putting kara groups together...)

Personally I really like the idea of forums, because I think they are superior to livejournal for a lot of stuff we use livejournal for... but given that we have been using livejournal since the guild was formed, I am not really planning on forcing the whole guild to switch or creating a divide within the guild for people who use one or the other :P As far as group sign-ups, 5-mans are easy enough to coordinate, but raids are really time-consuming when you are dealing with group balance.

I like the idea of having a forum. I find it a pain trying to find certain posts, at least with a forums they will be more organized in different topics, and easier to look back and find info.

Looked at the site, very pretty... but me need some gnome recognition, hehe

Actually once the site is more done I'm going to allow people to put their own characters up on the nav... really not "their" characters since people are going to be wearing certain things so as to not look crappy (lol at some of the gear you find people wearing), but I just have my two human characters up there :) Mainly because the model viewer makes night elf eyes freaky-bright!

Never fear... gnomes will be up there XD

I vote we have a list of who has what profession and what level, so that we know who to go to if we need a JC or an alchemist, etc. Unless we already have a list like that somewhere... then I'd like to know where that is xD

That will be included with the raid signup system profile for each character actually :) Nothing specific like what recipes they know or anything though.

Buuuuut I think you also can use:

If they still work. I haven't used it in a long time :)

To be honest, I actually like the LJ system of signups since I check it multiple times a day. I was in a guild who used a website, and I barely remembered to log in.

Same here, being caught up on guild stuff via LJ is a no-brainer.

BUT I hate how stuff always gets pushed back and people have to create multiple posts for 1 run. It would be nice to have 1 static post in a forum...with clickable title headings so we don't have to scroll through all the text and can just skim the titles for what we want.

As it is, I regularly check my 2 different emails and LJ multiple times a day. 1 more website to check wouldn't be a huge issue for me, especially when there's so much organization to be gained.

It is much easier for me to actually keep up with livejournal posts for runs... but managing groups is a nightmare, and quite a few good things that get posted (whether it is Miramis' druid guide or the announcement of an event coming in the future) end up disappearing once they are off the main page.

Mainly I am just hoping for some better organization of all of the information we have here - tags are a horrible way to organize stuff :( So some system that can use both without being stupidly redundant would be nice - after almost 3 years of being only on livejournal I doubt that will ever change :P

I would KILL for a roster!! People listed by their mains, including their LJ username and all their alts in the guild.

Kinda like:

Aylaiine -- ne_jyam
*Lucella
*Vharia
*Tzeitel
*Lua
*Seaward

I love her work. I wish I could feel right about shelling out $25 dollars to commission her. xD
