Hmph! I'm not surprised. Nolan was quite clear about Batman being the only superhero and he wouldn't want any 'help' from a superbeing!

A pity. The best things about the world of comics is the interaction. And I believe Marvel is going to allow for character interaction.

Just seems like a silly approach to me. *shrugs*

Oh I dislike what he says too. I have a feeling he may not be around for future DC movies if he keeps up with this "my universe/my rules" crap. DC wants to have their characters interact and team up, it's what kept the company alive for over seven decades.

I'm sure they do, but Nolan brings in the BIG bucks. :(

Except for the fact that they'd inevitably *fight* in a modern DC production, like that last moronic mooted script, and I'd rather they never meet than that! Wouldn't you?

Eh, that's what fic is for. :b

I second this enthusiastically, lol! I know the comic history, but I just can't see Superman dropping in on Nolan's Gotham. Visually and narratively they're from very different genres (noir detective and space opera) and especially in a movie, unless it was carefully tailor-made to have both of them, the results could be really jarring.

Besides, I'd much rather see fanfic versions of how they meet and get along then the nearly-inevitable grunt-and-posture-fest that a crossover movie would be. I'm really looking forward to having a new Superman movie to work with! *rubs hands*

I think I will just say right now, anything that gives you more fic ideas, I am entirely in favor with on principle.

How familiar is Nolan with the comics? I've heard he's not very familiar with them so he feels that he can make them more 'unique'.

Either way, sad faces all around here, I'd love for a Batman/Superman movie but that's clear that it's not going to happen. At least we've got DCAU!

The man clearly needs to read S/B fic.

As does everyone else, damn it!

Fft! The man needs to read a fudging Superman/Batman issue. I mean...

“Each serves to the internal logic of the story. They have nothing to do with each other.”

Bullshit. They have a lot to do with each other. =X They have FOREVER. It's quite clear that fans want a Superman/Batman movie and he's just being a dick. I understand that he's done good and brought in a lot of money, and what he has going for Batman is good...for now. People are...kinda expecting a S/B movie someday. We've had World's Finest comics for forever, so why not a movie? Just seems silly to me not to give the fans, the people who buy and watch these things, what they want~

I don't think that's fair at all. I for one screamed in horror last time an S/B movie was announced, and went down on my knees to praise God when it was cancelled. Google for the script synopsis if you can't imagine why I, and many other fans, might have felt that way.

He also isn't saying that S and B can never meet, he's saying *his* Batman can't operate with aliens and cosmic threats, and I think he's entirely right. Not because of egotism, but because of genre constraints. It would stretch the suspension of disbelief too far.

Seconded on that, as someone who has tried to write Superman into the TDK universe and largely failed, lol. They just don't...sync. I don't think it's saying the two characters can't work together fine, just the world he's set up for Batman right now falls into fragments if a superpowered alien suddenly shows up. Start off with an assumption of the two of them in the same world and you might be able to keep things balanced, but simply adding Superman to the Nolan movies would be a tough one. And would probably lead to Batman being completely unreasonable and pointlessly macho in order to keep any sort of level playing field with Superman, and that would break my heart...

I liked TDK but I am not big on Nolan's comments when it comes to comics, and the fact that he's now on Superman (even if he isn't the director) is kind of weird to me since he never expressed a desire to work with the character. Still I like his movies and will see what he does for Supes.

Someone send him Karl Kesel's World's Finest or a good S/B story, heck even some JLU!!! Maybe we can convert him!!.
