Oh I really hope you weren't lying about there being a Blakes Seven themed restaurant. The thought of being served by someone dressed as Servalan...or eating a Blake Burger, too good to have not been true!
We used to have a Lord of the Rings themed one about 10 years ago called Elronds.

- sorry to disappoint but the restaurant was actually called oracle - its main bit of signage went round the corner - & from one side you could only see "orac" - so we got into the habit of calling it orac's ( - it was a launderette before that )

( i feel guilty now )

( i have been to a blakes 7 themed wedding tho - honest guv - & the bride was a big fan of orac )

I actually met my (short-term & disastrous) husband in DTWAGE!
Oddly,I don't recall bongs and exotic aromas, but I remember being astounded by hardback reproductions of Crumb sketchbooks, selling for about £25, an astronomical amount in those days. They were kept safe by the cashier.

this is what i "remember": to get to the shop you had to go down a v.narrow alleyway which led to a courtyard - & then dark they were etc was down some stairs - & to get to the comix & books you had to go past these display cabinets w/the exotic & alien items in 'em...

despite only being there the once, it = quite a vivid childhood memory - so i hope it's not a false 'un

- i think r.crumb sells the gomplete original art to one of those sketchbooks - whenever he wants to buy a new house...!

It was all DTWAGE, I think, but upstairs with the paraphenalia were the pictureless books, mostly SF.

They did not sell any war comics.

i believe there's a place there called nob hill - wouldn't it be great to live on nob hill

There is and when I first moved to SF, I lived on its western slope.

- would the "sf" at the end of yr username stand for san francisco, by any chance...?

( we're v.slow on the uptake here at w.o.agwu )

...Wisconsin's a state, not a city. If you merged London and Milwaukee it would be a lot like many of my dreams where I'm on a London bus, going down Farwell Ave in M'wee.
