This ep can perhaps be subtitled: What Happens When John Screws Up (again).

That's a lot to you? )

Now that I'm back from vacation and am caught up on the SCC picspam, I can comment - yay!

Everything about why I love this show is in this ep - too many reasons to name. Except that I frequently watch the last scene with Sarah and it's one of the best in the entire series. Lena rocks! End of story. (And deserves an Emmy for that ep, but it'll be a cold day in hell before scifi gets nominated, let alone wins - until then, I'm sure SCC has the best, most appreciative fans in the world!)

That is such a great way to put it, LG! Honestly, I love all the eps up through this one for the cast, like you say, the writing, all of it. I agree that Lena deserves an Emmy. And Summer, too, for Allison.

I admit I struggle in the eps that come later. I love this show so much, though and I have such trust in the writers that I know it'll all come together in ways that I can't predict.

I love the multiple points of view in this episode - really ups the tension.

(Cameron was using a combat shotgun with depleted uranium shells, BTW. And so Team Connor most likely contaminated the church with low-level radioactive particles in the process of finishing off Cromartie. How very SCC! XD)

I really feel for John in this episode, how trapped he feels by everything - I can see why he turns to Riley and 'escapes' to Mexico, even though it's a total fantasy, as he soon finds out. He's got Sarah breathing down his neck trying to keep him safe the only way she knows how, and Cam pulling the psychosexual stuff on him to control him as well. And I do like it when Riley jumps in the tub. Such a teenagery thing to do. That looked possibly unscripted to me from T's reaction.

Everyone's great in this ep. The whole Sarah side of the story is compelling and moving, and I still can't watch the bit with the jagged can. Really good stuff.

have I mentioned that I adore you? You *always* teach me stuff I didn't know ♥

I feel bad too for John, just cosmically. He's like Oedipus, minus the oedipus complex, plus prophecy and fate breathing down his neck. ugh.

The can! Ugh! I had my hand in front of my eyes.

Though! I did notice in watching it again-- Riley's reaction to the photographer's "John Connor." It's a different kind of surprise, knowing what we know.

Oh yeah, the can bit! Ouch, poor Sarah! Another in her long list of wounds! Boy did I wince at that one!

And now at the end of Earthlings Welcome Here, Sarah will have matching bullet wounds in each thigh - ow! Hope she's okay doesn't go off the reservation hunting Terminators while gimping along - but knowing that character, she'll escape/get out of bed waaay before she's supposed to! :)

Oh yeah definitely - everything Riley does in the run up to the reveal about her with Jesse is ripe for reassessment. That's why we love this show, right? Layers upon twisty, twisty layers! :D ( ... )

Hhe's dealing with everything as best as he can as a sixteen year old. All the family issues as well as the Future War. Talk about being forged in fire.

I agree. I don't want him to grow up too fast at all-- I really love the pacing. But we do get to see how his actions ripple, and ripple and ripple.

I do wonder sometimes if people see John as being closer to Thomas' real age, instead of the character's actual age, and judge him more harshly for it. Or perhaps they wish he was older because of the Jameron angle making it a tiny bit squicky. But yes - we really need a third season at least to see how it all pans out. It's so intricate, it can't be rushed.

I think you're on to something there-- it's possible. I agree- no rushing.

And the best part of the episode wasn't even in it...

I bring to you... an image.. Just for you.. of RDJ as Sherlock Holmes... Did I mention he's topless? Oh well now you know.

Haha. You're welcome. I think Downey was captured at an unexpected moment. Uh.. Opps?
"Did we catch you at a bad time Mr Downey?"
"Yes, I was about to sing a song."
"What song?"
"I feel pretty."

Haha.
