I'm loving what is happening with John's character right now. He's a natural leader, and as such, he has to be capable of making decisions and acting on his own initiative, and yes, he's young, and fucked up, and he's fucking up. He's like, you know, a real person. He can't be the savior of humanity if he's so afraid of making a mistake that he doesn't act at all, just staying under the protection of his mother. And Dekker's acting is making me feel the character's pain. I've regained my love for this show.

I agree with all you've said here. And I love that people are giving the show credit for actually, as you said, building REAL characters, who aren't superheroes overnight.
