Car rental companies in New Zealand

I'm looking for specific recommendations or warnings against any car rental companies in New Zealand. I've looked at Ace, Go Rentals, Jucy, Budget, Omega, Pegasus... There is a bit of variation in price and it seems that NZ tends to have two types of rental places - those with new fleets that are fairly pricey (and seem equivalent to what I'm

i've hired with three different companies while i was in NZ and my favorite cars were from the ExploreMore company. their fleet is very new and the cars are well maintained. a little more expensive, but worth it. unfortunatly they only have depots in AKL and CHC, so if you are just doing AKL to AKL, they would be good.

i also rented with Roadtrip Rentals and they had EXCELLENT customer service and their cars were really good too.

Ace was probably my least favorite, car-wise. the breaks weren't tight enough for me and in NZ with hills, it was a slight issue. i managed, but i wouldn't want to drive their cars more then 3 days. Customer service was fine too.

Everyone in NZ is super nice so customer service isn't really an issue. Everyone does everything they can to help you out and make your stay great.
