An article in Time Magazine (find it here: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1812050,00.html?imw=Y) asks "Why Didn't More Women Vote for Hillary?" As a woman who didn't vote for Hillary, I've been surprised by the reactions from ( Read more... )

One of the main problems I have with presidential candidates, ANY presidential candidate, is the massive superego (is that a valid word?) one has to possess. After all, whoever the candidate, they're basically saying that they, and only they, have all the answers to all the probles we face, and they are the only person who can "save" us.

Like you, I'm tired of voting for "the lesser of the two evils". Like we talked about before, until the population of the US is educated enough to make a good, sound decision, instead of voting their fears, I'm afraid the lesser of two evils scnenario is what we're going to be stuck with ...

The ego thing bothers me as well, but I don't get much of that vibe from Obama. You know me - I really respect people who, instead of just sitting around and kvetching about the problems, step in and try to fix them. With Bush 2.0, I got the overwhelming feeling that he was just doing what he'd been groomed to do and that his primary goal was to out-do his daddy by taking down Saddam. As you know, the ONLY thing Bush 2.0 ever did that I agreed with/approved of was refuse to give a stay of execution for pick-axe murderer Karla Faye Tucker. Everything else he has done has been self-serving or crony-serving bullshit and we've lost a lot of American lives because of it.

I don't really get the feeling that Obama is the lesser of two evils here. It's a refreshing feeling, frankly. It would be fantastic if our education systems were such that EVERY person who graduated knew enough history/civics/economics to competently function as a presidential candidate, but I don't see that happening in the near future. :-(

I'm glad Obama won. I think he will make a great president. I like Hillary, but I think that she is way too power hungry. The reason I feel that she stayed with Bill is because she felt that she could use him to help further her career.

On one hand, I wouldn't mind seeing her on the ticket for the VP. But I'm really not sure that she could take a back seat. If Obama decides to make her his running mate, he will definitely have to put her in her place on day one.

I, too, wouldn't mind seeing her on the ticket for VP. I think VP might be the best role for her right now, as it would give her time to focus on the things she has always pushed for (health care, etc.) My big fear is that some rabid asshole is going to shoot Obama. I cringe every time someone compares him to RFK.
