...Wtf, self. Since when have I ever even considered writing something for this pairing before, or been able to justify pairing Sasuke with anyone other than Sakura. Never, that's when. I don't even know whether to place the blame on Kishi, Phase, or myself.

...Oh well.…I am VERY annoyed at Sakura over her behaviour in recent chapters. Think ( Read more... )

character: hyuuga hinata, pairing: sasuhina, label: fanfic, series: naruto, rating: pg, character: uchiha sasuke

hmmm... This is a very good rendering of this couple. Not romantic, but political.

I love your characterzations of Hiashi and Hanabi, because they are too often forgotten or made one-dimensional. Here they are complex and in their own ways at least somewhat caring. Hiashi believing in Naruto is great.

Hinata as so practical is very.... it is a little sad because she is resigned but it is very IC. But it was Sasuke who seemed the most IC to me. It was just very, very on. If feel sort of bad for them as a couple because he's choosing her for all the wrong reasons. Political, genetics and even a creepy bit of fruedian mother-figure thing going on. Hinata's reasoning (making way for her sister) isn't much better, but one really hopes their hearts don't get too broken over this.

Makes me wonder what other people's reactions would be to their announcement.

Thank you! I actually haven't read any SasuHina fic, so I don't know how they're generally portrayed, but this is what felt the most IC to me.

I took some liberties with Hiashi and especially with Hanabi since we see so little of them in the manga. I'm glad you liked my take on them.

Sasuke is actually my favourite to write. (And my favourite in general, tbh. XD) I was hoping that the "motherly" thing wouldn't come across too creepy--he certainly doesn't see Mikoto in Hinata or anything Harry Potter-ish weird like that. Oedipus he is not.I don't know if I'll write any more of this, since I only planned on it being a one-shot and SasuHina's not really my OTP (though I'm liking it more than I expected to), but if I did, I imagine that they'd end up being fairly happy together. They're both pretty reserved, so she wouldn't be overbearing and he wouldn't embarrass her in front of her family or in public, but I think her gentleness would be good for him, and that he would open up to her at least somewhat after a while ( ... )

The mother comment was the right amount of creepy. A little like he's longing for his mom but mostly like he thinks she'll be a good mom. Which is, you know, nice, but not the best reason to marry someone.

Naruto and Sakura's reaction would be interesting, as would Neji's but I can see they wouldn't make each other unhappy. Its an interesting pairing for this (very angsty) reason, but I haven't read a lot of the pair, usually because Sasuke is often very OC when I do try them....

Yeah, the "motherly" thing is really more of an undertone. The politics of the match is his primary reason. ...And while I do think he misses his mum, and always sort of will, there's none of that kind of "longing". lol Yikes.

Yes, there would be some interesting reactions there, all right. And most of the SasuHina fanart I've seen has been pretty fluffy, so I can just guess what a lot of the fanfic would be like. :|

damnit. now I'm crying.

Firebird made me cry, too. I finished it today. you HAVE GOT to read it. I can't believe I had it for 5 years and kept putting off reading it! It's amazing! I cried so hard. It was so good.

Aww, Thel. /o/

...But I don't like crying. And I have about a three-year backlog of other books to read. But I'll add it to the list. ;]

DON'T LAUGH AT ME!

^_^

It was good crying, though... because it means she wrote well. I was riding a high from all three books (kinda like with Abhorsen trilogy when you read all three at once and it's just amazing and you wonder how it can end and still just be so damned amazing) and it had 20 pages to go and then *SOMETHING HAPPENED* and I just... my world... sobbing and YESH, but NOOOOO, and AGH! and PLEASE! and I was very nearly praying for a fictional character! That's how good it was.

aaaadkfnsdfs -insert moar incoherent typing here-

I'm like. A little creeped out by how yes this was in terms of being similar to how I see this pairing. T-The part about still being rivals with Naruto, and the touch-for-touch's-sake, and the subtle motherly thing, and the unspoken understanding, and. Everything. I loved it, BB. <333 There's srsly, honestly nothing more I could have said in these circumstances.

...What? Annoyed at Sakura? NAWWW, I didn't get that at all. |D

...Well, we do tend to agree fairly often on the more minute details of why we like certain pairings (at least the most important ones, like SasuSaku and HHr XD), so I don't know that I'd call it creepy, but...it is rather interesting. :|a Especially since I don't think either of us had really given much, if ANY, thought to this pairing until Sakura started MAJORLY backsliding very recently. *...blames it all on THAT ONE MIKOTO+SASUKE THREAD orz*

Drat. And I tried so hard, too. Guess I'll have to put in MOAR POINTLESS CRYING next time. Or let her get knocked on her ass by some random character like she's 12 and helpless again. And maybe a mime can explain her emotions to her or something. That should do it. |D

True... I still find it creepy, though, as well as interesting. XD *HEE, the magic that RP can create~*

XDD I THINK THAT MIGHT DO IT, YES.

This was awesome! I loved the reasoning you had against KibaHina, cute as it is, and Sakura not being able to deal with Sasuke was an interesting twist! I liked it a lot, and think you're pretty good at writing Hinata. Good characterization through and through! The cold logic everywhere was very ninjy. ♥

Aww, thanks! (You know you're partly to blame for the existence of this fic, too. <333) If I'm at all good at writing Hinata, it's because I WAS her back in HS. ...And sometimes still am, derp.
