I love looking at the ornaments as we hang them - there are a bunch that the kids and I made when they were little, and some of them are mutants, but we still love them all. Others were gifts from people, and those are special as well!

Your tree looks like our tree, both the tree itself, and the decorations. I love having all kinds of random ornaments from different places and different kids. :)

An ornament per vacation--that's a lovely idea. We've gone with one per year, but I like your way better.

That's my idea of a Christmas tree. Very pretty and you get a plus for having Pratchett close by :)

Keep a look out. We saw a bald eagle yesterday, so he may be headed your way--at least I suspect he's going south.

I'm now 3/4 through Unseen Academicals and savoring every page.

I have to ask...since you picked this tree out of a woodlot, does that also mean you CUT IT DOWN? Cause for a girl who gets her trees at Home Depot, that is made of awesome.

My kiddos have only just started to bring home ornaments they made in preschool/day care, and I love hanging them up in all of their paste-and-glitter saturated glory! :)

Yup. HH cut it with his trusty saw, which he chose to use this year instead of a hatchet. It did work better.

Those preschool ornaments are so precious. There's one of macaroni glued into a snowflake shape that stays on our wall year-round, because it's truly beautiful.

My favorite ornament on our tree is the T-Rex made by Wildcat -- just a drawing cut out of a piece of paper. It was from her phase when she drew about 500 T-Rexes a day.
