Things are reaching critical mass, when I see two excellent articles about ebooks and self-publishing in one day and both are so thought provoking I need to make them an LJ memory.

Thanks to jongibbs  I read this post by Nathan Bransford, agent extraordinaire, which originally appeared in the Huffington Post.

Absolutely. It may become easier to get published, but only the good books will get that 'word of mouth' which any books needs if it's to become a success.
