This is pretty awesome. I found a small typo you might care to address if you haven't already:

You will each be judges separately, based on how you have lived.

I believe you mean "judged" rather than judges.

I'm going to vote for this piece over your poem, but good luck with whichever you choose.

First, let me just say that was beautiful. I really liked it.

Second - ironically, I was thinking earlier this week that I'd like to write a story about someone who couldn't pay Charon and tried to seduce him to get on the boat. I've been listening to the Lightning Thief this week on my commute and when the kids reached the point of entering the underworld it occured to me that Charon would make a great character for a story (well a new one at any rate). You beat me to it but yours is way better than what I had in mind.

Great job! Good luck this week.

uuuum, it's a kids book (she admits in shame)
Lightning Thief is first in a series by Rick Riordan called Percy Jackson & The Olympians. The characters are all kids that are demi-gods, the product of Greek gods and mortals in modern times. They have a training camp to become heroes. It's really a wonderful concept.

I love Greek mythology and you've made one of the most shadowy characters in it into a living breathing fascinating creature. I love the brief cameo of Hades and I love pretty much everything about this story. Fantastic.

I like this. There are several folk songs about the Ferryman and women trying to cross without the fee... I like this. Nike and Charon have an interesting relationship -- I want to know if she comes back. Good luck with this.
