I love to see poetry here at the Flame. Here is my favorite line:
When words are
like knives
and silence is
your poison?

So true, you really nailed it here. Nice use of the prompt, as well. Thank you so much for sharing this one with us, I hope to see more poetry in the future!

Hello! I am your editor! I apologize for your lengthy wait on this one. I'm not sure exactly what the holdup was on this, but I just found out this evening that I had the good luck to get to edit you, so let's get this show on the road, shall we?

I remember when I first read this how much I like it, and it still holds up under a second reading. It has a very intimate feel to it, very raw and emotional. You have a sort of a conversational tone, as if the narrator is addressing a person just behind the shoulder of the reader, which implicitly draws them into the action. So they feel as if they are party to the drama playing out. And that's perfect for poetry!

Again, my favorite line this time was the same as the first time I commented:

When words are
like knives
and silence is
your poison? Very effective imagery ( ... )
