I totally didn't get the Chuck/Sarah/Casey parallel in Legend of the Seeker until you mentioned it. I mean, they're a three-people team, and there's the forbidden love and everything... now I really want you to write that fic. But ugh, I need to catch up with Season 2 soon! And pray that they will renew the series, because it's all still up in the air now!
Oh my god, that was like the only thing on my mind since the very first episode, lol! Like the whole 'we can't be together, the mission is more important than us, I love you but we can't act on these feelings', and especially Kahlan/Sarah's mission to protect the Seeker/the Intersect. Casey's a little harder to fit in but he would totally be a wizard in their little dynamic!
I hadn't heard anything in advance of this episode so I think I enjoyed it immensely at least in part because it was a pleasant surprise and a return to what I used to love about this show. As you said, please don't get me wrong, there are aspects of Season 3 I have loved, but I hated how the Buy More characters and Casey had faded into the background this season. I was very happy to see the return of the Morgan/Chuck dynamic, and as you said, the Duck Hunt scene was one of the best of the night.
I've about reached my limit with Shaw but was pleased to see he was absent in the preview for next week's episode. Casey is my favourite character so I'm very excited with the prospect of learning more about him next week :)
I have the same problem with overhyped episodes. Whenever critics keep telling me how awesome an episode is, I eventually reach a point where I just want to tell them to SHUT UP because I know my contrary ways will have me watching the ep going, "Um, it wasn't that awesome, guys." (Haha, I have issues. Especially since this is responding to a show I didn't watch!)
Yeah, I think I'm pretty much exactly with you on HIMYM. I'd sort of wanted to just let go of this show and this episode wasn't by any means perfect, but it did make me remember the good times, so to speak. And I don't know if I want Barney/Robin back together either, given the earlier bad writing, but it did make me go "Maaaaabbbbyyy?" for the first time in quite a while.
I've fallen off the Life Unexpected bandwagon, too. I'm pretty sure I'll watch the entire season at some point. I've been telling myself I'd catch up for a while now, but maybe I need to follow your lead and just wait till it finishes!
(The 'Sarah smile' for Hannah, Johnnie Walker Black, Let Me Get Molested And Be A Pin-up Girl For Work Place Sexual Harassment, and the overall 'this is the lowest point' in Fake Name). ^^^^That made me laugh. I was so happy to get that feeling back that I have been used to having after watching Chuck--That excited, happy, satisfied feeling that I crave until the next week.
Also, totally agree about Chuck Versus The Colonel being better.
