I am awestruck seeing these. It's amazing photography, Susan. I can't even IMAGINE the settings, the lens, and the shutter speed you would need to have to get photos like this. I have only seen the aurora once -- and it wasn't this colorful as you show here. It was in Maine when I was a child. My parents got us all up at about midnight to see this very unique thing, and I have never forgotten it. I'm so glad to be able to see it through you. :)

Many of these photos are shot at ISO 500 and for long exposures from 5 seconds to 30 seconds depending on the amount of light in the sky.

This was my first time seeing these colors! I was awestruck too! I hope for a repeat performance, but even if I don't ever get to see these colors again, I will be thrilled for the one experience!
