Sorry, it's been that kind of a week. Let me repeat my previous comments here, you are brilliant at describing the amount of work that would go into making this relationship sustainable. And at the same time, you manage to capture the love between them that makes the work worthwhile. And that is just beautiful.
And again, I can't wait to see how this story unfolds.
*hugs you*
As a sidenote, I know you wrote Voyager fanfic, but where can I find it?
This is so much more fun to read than a fic that just assumes that once Mal and Inara see the light (as it were) everything would just be smooth sailing from there on in. Love may conquer all, but it still can take effort, especially with a relationship like this.... Can't wait for more! :)
I've just recently found the LJ Firefly fanfic community (although I found the fics you linked in your Retro-Rec post on my own, go me)...mind if I friend you?
Hey, a personal link to this page as a reply to my last comment. I feel mighty special. :-D
On a review-ish note, great work, as usual. You've clearly picked up that "give the reader just enough of what they want to keep them reading while you frustrate them even further" tactic that the show does so well. (That was a compliment, albeit a convoluted one.)
"Accepting it felt like a wrongness. But having it was another thing altogether." That is so Mal.
Can't wait to see where you're going with this. I've always wondered what's stowed in all those hidden compartments... :-D
"But I reckon you ain't got a lot to spare, knowing how long it's been since you had a--" Too late, he realized he was taking the wrong tack.
I actually winced at this point. Then cringed when he did it AGAIN. Oy. Stupid, STUPID male. Ugh. *smacks him around a bit*
I loved the last couple of chapters, showing both he and Inara so happy... but true to form, it couldn't last. Pity it didn't last longer than a half day. *sigh* You were spot on with their characters, though - sniping back and forth, too caught up in the heat of the moment/argument to take a step back and see what they're saying and doing.
On to Part 4 and see what you have in store for them!

Alas, my Voyager stories are scattered, but here are the best places to find them:
My own old, incomplete archive
Also incomplete, amd I'm not sure why, are these listings at Trekiverse:
here
and here (adult stories)
