Self-Destruct

Maybe she would have liked to say that they’d made love, but she knew that wasn’t it. They’d had sex; they’d fucked. Half an hour ago Tim had fallen asleep in her bed right after they’d finished. Honestly, she’d been surprised he’d lasted as long as he had. He was drunk beyond reason.

She’d seen him like this many times; more often, recently. He never explained anything. He never said much at all. But this was Dillon; small town, Texas. People talked and they talked about Tim Riggins and Lyla Garrity.

Tim’s skin glistens with a light sheen of sweat in the muted light of the desk lamp, his body still infused with alcohol. The girl observing this knows that she has no name. She’s anonymous; her name’s anon girl.

In his sleep, Tim frowns; turns on his side restlessly and crushes a pillow under his arm before snuggling up to it subconsciously. “Lyla,” he mumbles. The girl by the window watches this, sighs and tucks the robe she’s wearing tighter around her body. Yes, Tim Riggins only really knew one girl’s name. What few people knew, but one anonymous fuck, one nameless girl suspected was that Lyla Garrity had possibly broken this playboy’s heart.

And Tim was going off the deep end about it; drinking, fighting, fucking and despairing. So why, one would wonder, did so many girls let him fuck them? What was it that drew them to him? For one anonymous girl the answer was clear: Tim Riggins was beautiful. He was beautiful in his self-destruction, beautiful in the pain and unbreakable spirit in his eyes and the love and wild passion in his heart. Beautiful in the storm that was raging inside his being. She sighed; unfortunately non of this storm was headed her way, but was all for Lyla Garrity and her love, or the lack thereof. Hopefully it wouldn’t destroy him.

Expiring for love was a beautiful thing, she thought as she watched Tim sleep, but maybe it was stupid. In this case, it would be really stupid if he destroyed himself over Lyla Garrity. After all, they were young; this wasn’t the end of the world. The world didn’t end with Lyla Garrity in Dillon and a nameless girl watching Tim Riggins self-destruct.
