Title: A Lover and a Fighter
Pairing: Kara/Sam

Summary: Kara visits Sam on New Caprica, and she’s full of surprises.
Author’s Notes: A gift for rirenec for the 2012 bsg_epics Holiday Gift Exchange. Sam’s prayer comes from a set of poems traditionally attributed to Orpheus (Hymn 33, “To Victory”), English translation by Thomas Taylor.

( He hadn’t even known Kara was religious, let alone devout enough to get up early for a sunrise service. )

Aww, Sammy is so sweet. I love that last paragraph, especially. Sam sees all of her best qualities. I love that she's a lover and a fighter too. That's so Kara.

Awww! This is so happy! I love them in their rare moments of peace. For some reason, I thought this line was particularly endearing and particularly Sam: "New Caprica City was a shithole, but it was his shithole." I love how proud he is about it! And, of course, being the Ancient Roman/Greek nerd I am, I got a major kick out of their choice of Gods. "A lover and a fighter." Perfect!

Never thought of it that way. Having just rewatched Downloaded about four times for research, this particular little moment gains new perspective with this insight.
