( They all knew that Starbuck was the best pilot in the Raptor, but Boomer would never ask Starbuck to take over, and Starbuck would never offer. And both women were much better pilots than him, so Helo just tightened the straps securing him to the ECO station and prepared to guide the descent. )

What a wild ride! I love how well-plotted this was, and Sharon's fate had me on the edge of my seat. Again, perfect, meaty pieces of backstory that begs to be written out. I love this Karl and Kara, and it rings so true to them both. The description of the relationship between ECO and pilot was so vivid and detailed. This was very much worth waiting for :-D

I'm really glad I had you on the edge of your seat re:Sharon! It was a tricky game I was playing, trying to make you feel suspense about a character obviously alive at the start of the mini, so I'm glad it worked. :D Thanks for your enthusiasm! This was a very sweet review. :)

This was great! Kara and Helo is something I hadn't given much thought but they obviously go way back and I enjoyed reading about that here, especially Helo's character. I also wasn't sure where you were going with Sharon - I thought it might be AU or something. Very nice backstory - I love pre-canon fic.

This is fantastic! Plotty, suspenseful, fun, heartwrenching, action-adventure-y. It totally reads like a missing episode.

It was great to get a glimpse of the characters in their earlier days when a dangerous mission could have a happy ending and life was normal for them. Awesome job!

What a thrilling ride.

Their correspondence in the beginning where adorable. Helo being in the ship with Adama to go down to his son's funeral.. that's fascinating.

I like the sense of the worlds you get from this, as well as Kara and Karl's pre-established history.

Thank you so much! That was one of the really fun things about getting to write a prequel, was establishing some of the cultures of the world and being able to delve into things the show had already set aside. I'm glad you liked it and thanks for commenting! :)

Fantastic, exciting story! I love their buddy dynamic and how they know each other so well. The parts about Sharon were so well written, in particular. And their deductions about the origin and purpose of the base were great- Kara's always just one step ahead and better informed than Helo. Helo's backstory was so perfect- his poor mother! - and I loved all the references to Kara and Karl's onetime, long-over romantic relationship where what they have now is something stronger than that. Awesome work!

Thanks! I'm glad the procedural aspect of the fic worked for you...it was, admittedly, the hardest part to write. Because of course their relationship just took over and practically wrote itself, my adorable bbs. :) And I'm glad the sex-is-over-but-we're-stronger worked for you!
