Thanks. The whole premise came out of me starting to ponder a "what if" AU where Gauis hadn't taken Helo's seat, and then it occurred to me, but what if Helo were the Angels' "what if" in the first place?
You know, I've always been interested in the connections between Baltar and Helo through Hera, since Baltar once thought he was going to be Hera's father, and was so disappointed for a while that he was supplanted by Helo. I like how this premise puts a new twist on Six's backpedaling with Gaius on the show about how she supposedly never told Gaius that Hera would be their physical child. I like the suggestion that Six maybe thought this was going to be the case for a while and was pushing Gaius so hard in the first season because she was trying to still somehow make him worthy of hybrid fatherhood before it was too late and Helo and Athena beat him to it
( ... )
This is charming and reminds me of mythic gods when they have their human moments, putting real humans into play and seeing what happens. And I love her faith in Baltar even while she sees that Helo should take the Father role at this point.
