Last weekend, elora_c was putting together a CD of Christmas songs for kids, for Sparky's use, and she was using this site for ideas. I glanced over her shoulder at that long list of songs, and burst out laughing at "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." You obviously never listened to the Dr. Demento show in your youth. "I want a hippopotamus" was a staple of his at Christmastime.

They've gotten to you too! I know my Christmas novelty songs -- "Christmas at Ground Zero," "Santa Claus and His Old Lady," Bob & Doug McKenzie's "12 Days of Christmas." It's true that Dr. Demento wasn't broadcast in my area when I was a kid, but I certainly heard about it. So how did I miss this one for all this time?
