Been thinking about TV and film adaptations of sci-fi and fantasy novels lately, after a couple of events. The first was being part of a conversation about Game of Thrones, where most of the participants had seen the TV series, but never read the books. The other was seeing complaints about "spoilers" in reviews of Harry Potter and the Deathly ( Read more... )

I agree, if LotR or the Godfather or Prestige or HP were 'only' movies it would be very weird. You can throw in mysteries in there as well, James Bonds, et al.

Also, lulz at complaining about 'spoilers' in HP and the Extra Movie. Next they'll be surprised when they find out James Bond disarms the bomb in the underground lair at the end of the film...with 0.07 left on the ticking clock.
